Make Runs Maxi Community Spirit Raises $14,450
Make Runs Maxi

A powerful legacy of community, sportsmanship, and mental health advocacy continues to thrive through the Make Runs Maxi movement, thanks to the generous contributions of cricket and football clubs across Tasmania.

Last year, the Ulverstone District Cricket Club took part in the inaugural charity match against Sheffield Cricket Club, proudly donning specially designed shirts in support of Make Runs Maxi. Fundraising activities ran throughout the day and night, with all proceeds from Ulverstone donated to the cause.

The annual Make Runs Maxi Shield between Westbury and Mowbray is played in memory of Isaac ‘Maxi’ Walters, with the coveted Isaac Walters Spirit of the Game Award recognising the player who best embodies exceptional sportsmanship. Every second year, Westbury unveils a newly designed playing shirt to raise awareness and funds, with a raffle running each year to support ongoing efforts.

Extending beyond the pitch, the Sheffield Football Club hosted its first-ever Ladies Day last year, with all funds raised also donated to Make Runs Maxi.

An annual football match between Deloraine and Longford Football Clubs honours Isaac’s memory with a full day of games. Each match concludes with a Spirit of the Game award, and the senior team competes for the Make Runs Maxi Cup. Deloraine wears sponsored guernseys featuring a unique Make Runs Maxi design, furthering awareness while generating funds through merchandise sales and raffles that support mental health initiatives.

In a deeply touching gesture, a recent funeral service requested donations to Make Runs Maxi in lieu of flowers, reflecting the wide-reaching impact and support this initiative inspires.

Throughout the year, merchandise sales and spontaneous donations from individuals continue to strengthen the movement.

Together, these efforts have raised an incredible $14,450, a testament to the unwavering generosity and commitment of our local communities in honouring Isaac ‘Maxi’ Walters and championing mental health.
