The Outreach Program forms the foundation of RAW’s statewide service, delivering accessible, responsive, and place-based mental health and wellbeing support across Tasmania’s rural and regional communities.
RAW’s Outreach team provides practical, on-the-ground mental health and wellbeing support for regional Tasmanians and will meet people where they feel most comfortable, whether that’s a chat over coffee, a phone call, a walk around the park, or another setting that feels right. We offer non-clinical support and can work alongside clinical psychologists when needed. Because feeling misunderstood can be a barrier to seeking help, our team is made up of people with genuine rural backgrounds who live in the communities they support, ensuring connection, understanding, and trust. RAW is also an accredited suicide prevention program*, committed to helping individuals build strong mental health and learn strategies to navigate life’s stressors.
The Rural Alive and Well Outreach Team is a dedicated group of eight support workers who provide one-on-one, non-clinical assistance to help participants build and maintain good mental health. Each team member comes from rural or agricultural backgrounds and brings practical experience in behavioural support, ensuring they genuinely understand the challenges faced by the people they work alongside. Because we recruit directly from the communities and industries we support, our team is deeply connected and well-placed to offer meaningful, relatable guidance. Through our intake process, we carefully match each participant with the worker whose skills and experience best meet their individual needs. If you would like to speak to a team member about the Outreach Program, please request a call back here.
Anyone can complete a call-back request, whether it be for yourself or someone you know. Alternatively, you can contact our team directly on 1800 RAW TAS (1800 729 827). If we don't answer, please leave a message - we may be with another participant.
